Software Library: MS-DOS Applications and Programs

This is a varied collection of applications and programs written for MS-DOS. As things are emulated in the browser, there is currently no way to save the progress of your work, so please don't work too hard inside these applications! They are provided to give historical context and research into how programs and applications worked in earlier times. If you are not familiar with the in-browser emulator EM-DOSBOX being used to provide these applications, please read the FAQ. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact Jason Scott, the Internet Archive Software Curator, at jscott@archive.org

This is an old emulation of DeskMate for the TANDY 1000. From Wikipedia: DeskMate was a software application that provided an operating environment that competed with early versions of Microsoft Windows. It originally was made for Tandy's TRS-DOS Operating System and for their TRS-80 line of computers, but eventually shifted to PC, where it was developed using C and Assembly. Like Windows (and other competitors from the time, such as GEM), it was not a full operating system, requiring a...

Predecessor: MINIHOST, D escendant: MEGAHOST READ MAXIHOST TUTORIAL IN PC-WORLD MAY 1990 Press ESC to log on in demo mode. This program builds on the small BBS system Minihost. No new features could be added to MINIHOST due to being up against the dreaded 64K code, 64K data, and 64K stack limitations of Turbo Pascal 3.0 (TP3). We have now been successful (we hope) at upgrading to Turbo Pascal 5.0 (TP5), becoming MAXIHOST. What this means to you is that, while MINIHOST development has ceased,...
